Old Mother Hubbard Mother's Solutions Hip & Joint Soft & Chewy Treats!

I was sent some more treats to try this month from! This time they were Old Mother Hubbard Mother's Solutions Hip & Joint Soft & Chewy Treats!

I was really excited about these.  You may remember when Gibson had some limping episodes a few summers ago. I started feeding him glucosamine treats to help and they really did the trick!  I think since corgis have the long backs/short legs thing going on, it's good to give them something to lube up their joints.

I'm also already a fan of Old Mother Hubbard since they are owned by the same company that makes Gibson's kibble, Wellness Core! Plus, they always use high quality and natural ingredients, which we all love for our doggies, right?

As far as the actual treats go.. They are much smaller than other brands of hip & joint treats I've purchased, and they are cheaper too!  Smaller is good for my fatty magoo corgi and I like that they can pack 750mg/kg of Glucosamine Hydrochloride and 250mg/kg of Chondroitin Sulfate per serving!

Gibson is a fan!!

Hill’s® Ideal Balance™ Gourmet Meal GIVEAWAY!

I'm back with another Hill's® Ideal Balance™ post!  This time, it's an awesome GIVEAWAY!

So, in the last post, I introduced you to the Ideal Balance™ brand.  This time, I am gonna talk about some of the products that they will be giving away!

Along with the new Grain Free dry food, Hills also produced some wet dog food and treats to give your dog a "trifecta of natural nutrition".  Both of these have the same natural ingredients as their dry food and of course have No corn, wheat or soy and no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives. Woohoo!

Their new wet food comes in 6 varieties, including Braised Lamb & Vegetables. The wet food makes a great supplement for dry food or a extra special treat for your pup!

There are also a few different varieties of treats to go along with the wet and dry food.  These Soft-Baked Naturals  are tiny little soft bones that work great as training treats!  They come in 3 different flavors with healthy ingredients.

Gibson approves!

He likes these too!  The Oven-Baked Naturals, which also come in three different flavors. Some fun combos too.. one is Lamb & Apricots!  Sounds yummy ;)  These are also small (which I love for a corgi that will eat everything in sight) and more like a cookie than the Soft-Baked treats above.  Hadley thinks they are cookies too and tries to chew on them until she realizes they're dog treats and feeds them to Gib ;)

Offering your pet complete and nutritious meals every day eases your mind and satisfies your pet.

Hadley & Gibby

It's been awhile since I've updated you on how Hadley and Gibson are getting along. Well, pretty much the same. She wants to pet him and play with him and feed him and brush him and riiide him all the time, but he wants none of it still :( *Sigh* I am really hoping at some point he will stop the freaking out whenever she comes near him, but now he still will bark every time she touches him or looks like she might have the possibility of touching him in the near future.. It's sad when she is around other dogs and they let her do whatever she wants to them, but her own dog is a jerk. Ah well, he is our jerk and we love him ;) Maybe, one day.. ONE DAY he will love her back, but for now, this is pretty much how they interact...

Hill’s® Ideal Balance™: Behind the Scenes

There's a new food in town.  You may have noticed this logo as you've perused the dog food aisle...

And these commercials on your tv...

Hills have created a new pet food! Hill’s® Ideal Balance™ is a new, natural pet food that provides perfectly balanced nutrition, guaranteed or your money back.  Hill's has asked me to write some articles about their new brand (and host a few exciting giveaways!), so this is the first of many posts on the subject :)

Now, dog food (and cat food), is a touchy subject, I know.  I spent months and months researching the perfect food for Gibson. I wanted what was best for him, and that apparently meant: meat as the 1st ingredient, no corn, no bi-products, no wheat.  At the time, it didn't seem like there were tooo many brands of dog food that followed this formula, but soon more and more companies were taking notice of what pet owners wanted for their dog.

New "Slow Down" Bowls

Hill’s sought significant consumer input on its pet food to better understand what pet parents wanted in a natural pet food. Their selling point is that there is "not too much, and not too little" of what your dog needs (balanced!).  I've checked the ingredients and it all seems good to me!   Ideal Balance was developed by the trusted pet nutritionists at Hill’s with consumers’ ingredient preferences first in mind. Hill’s Ideal Balance has no corn, wheat, soy, artificial colors, flavors or preservatives.

Once Hill’s had a developed this breakthrough natural pet food, the next challenge became how to market it.  They wanted their advertising and look to be innovative, yet natural looking.  I must admit, the color of their packaging is very striking and beautiful!

The quality of the commercials are outstanding and I really like how they combined natural elements with animation!

The puppy is pretty cute too ;)

Check out how they shot the commercials.. it's really, pretty cool!

I like how they were able to make the commercial very stylistic looking, but still focus on the ingredients of the food! The response to the commercials were good and reviews of the food have been good (read some here).

So, hope you enjoyed my little primer on the Ideal Balance brand! Would you like to try a bag of food for free?  Head over to for a coupon!

The Corgi Chronicles by Laura Madsen

I recently read The Corgi Chronicles by Laura Madsen!

May I help you? I'm reading..

When Laura emailed me about her book, I was really excited about it.  She described it as being a fantasy novel, starring a corgi, perfect for 6-12 year olds. My first thought was, "OMG! Hadley is going to lovvvvve this in a few years!"  She also said that any corgi lover would enjoy it as well.  Hmmm, well then.. Corgi lover? Check.  Have a kid? Check. Fantasy fan? Check!  Let's read!

Here is the description from the back cover:
Pippin may look like a big-eared, short-legged dog, but he’s a magical corgi. Fairies ride corgis because they’re too small to ride horses. Pippin lives undercover with a human family but his secret mission is to serve Aliiana, an earth fairy, as her faithful steed.

Aliiana and Pippin learn that a thief has stolen the Ruseol Gem, the source of all good magic on Earth. If the thief destroys the Gem, all magic will wither and die—including Aliiana. Can they stop the thief before he kills magic?

The first thing I thought of when I started reading the book was that it was a cross between Lord of the Rings and Martha Speaks ( I watch a lot of cartoons these days).  A group of mythical creatures get together to retrieve a rare gem, but it is set in modern day.. Oh and Pippin talks :)  It is seriously, super cute, but dark enough that it will keep older kids interested and entertained.

I really liked that Laura actually has a corgi named Pippin (who has a Facebook page). She really brought a true corgi personality to the character.  It was easy to imagine Laura's Pippin actually having this sort of adventure in real life (or at least day dreaming of it).

I am not the fastest reader.. I usually like to read a chapter or two of whatever I'm reading before bedtime, but I got through this pretty quickly for me.. about a week! Super easy to read and it kept me entertained.  I definitely recommend if you have kids or if you love corgis!
