2013 Corgis! Calendar Contest!!

Guess what time it is?? It's calendar contest time!!

Look a little bit different? Yup, I changed things up this year!   Why? Well, because of this poll:

I feel like there are less and less people who actually blog anymore... SO the contest is now open to everyone!  Do you have a corgi?? Submit your best photos!!

I am now accepting entries to this years calendar contest! The only requirement is that you have a corgi! The goal of this project is to show love for our corgis  and to raise money for corgi rescue!

The Details
  • Each month will feature a corgi's photo, it's name and location, and your blog name & web address (if you have one)!
  • A portion of the profits will be donated to the Lakeshore Corgi Rescue.
  • Winners will receive a free digital version of the calendar.
  • I would like to feature a different corgi/blog every month, but the most important thing is to have high quality images, so it is possible that a corgi may be featured more than once.
  • The calendar will be ready to go for the holiday shopping season!
Submission Guidelines
  • All entries should be emailed to ksteck23(at)gmail.com - replace (at) with the @ symbol - no later than August 24, 2012.  30 finalists will be chosen and be put to the public vote.  Winners will be announced on soon after!
  • You must have rights to the photos that you are submitting.
  • Only 3 entries per person, please!
  • When you submit your entries, please include your dog's name and your location.   If you have a website or blog, include the web addresses.
  • Please send the original sized version of your photos (high resolution).  They should be at least 11.25" wide and 8.75" high at at least 150dpi to ensure the highest quality calendar. The file size should be at least 1mb.
  • Photos received may be cropped and resized and edited to fit specific calendar sizes and guidelines.
  • You will retain the rights to your own photos, and can still submit them to any other contest, sell them, or use them however else you like!
Photo Tips
  • There is no theme, just the best corgi photo that you have! Can be a corgi smile, or a corgi butt, or anything else corgi's do!
  • Photos w/just corgis (no humans) will be more likely to get accepted.
  • Photos can be from previous years if they are your best photos.
  • Outdoor and season specific shots always work well!
  • There can be multiple corgis per photo submission.
  • Pembrokes, Cardigans AND Corgi Mixes are all acceptable.
  • View our Corgis of the Month so far for tips on submitting great photos geared towards each month!

So there you have it! Let me know if you have any questions. I hope to see some awesome photos soon! Please spread the word!! :)

Bad to the Bone

DSC_5510

The other day, I got a call that I did not expect.   We had just put in our air conditioners and I think I was enjoying the coolness here at my desk when Ben walked over and said, "Oh I guess you didn't hear me, your phone was ringing."  I went to check it and saw that it was an 815 number (our area code) and they left a voicemail.. Hmm, didn't recognize the number, but must be important.

"Hi, my name is Brent Smiley (fake name)."
Ok, don't know you, how did you get my number and what do you want?
"I have your dog, Gibson, here."
WHAT???!!!

So, yeah, while we were putting in the air conditioners, the door to our garage was open and Gibson wandered off and apparently followed some family down the sidewalk while they were taking a walk.  As soon as I heard, "I have your d-", I headed outside to see if I could see where they were.  Luckily, they were right next door.. but geez!  His collar tag finally came in handy!

This incident is just one of many naughty things that Gibson has pulled in the past few weeks.  Over Memorial Day, we were at the in-laws and he kept wandering off.  He's never done this!  We'd be sitting there having a nice time and then all a sudden I'd say, "Uh, where is Gibson?"  At one point he was three houses down in someone's backyard!   DOG!

He's also been having the time of his life chasing any animal he can out of our yard.   Squirrels, I can live with, since they just find the nearest fence or tree to climb up, but the other day it was a bunny and yesterday there was a cat!  Both of those times the animal (luckily) just ended up in our front yard and Gibson eventually came back when I called him.  I guess at least he has a good recall *rolls eyes*.

Oh and let's not forget about the EXCESSIVE BARKING.   Yes, I know I just did a post about how we got his barking under control.. Well, we slacked off a bit on the training and he's back to his usual Barkson self... TO THE EXTREME!   I swear, it is maddening.

I promise I give this dog attention!   I mean, yesterday, we went on a 40 minute walk, a 20 minute walk and also played fetch for 20 minutes outside!   Am I horrible dog owner? Am I neglecting him?  What more can I do??  Does anyone want a corgi??   Just kidding.. kind of.. ;)

Take a Walk with Gibson!

So for awhile now, I've been wanting to videotape one of me and Gibson's (and Hadley's) walks.  Not sure why.. I guess cause I love them so much :)   Well, yesterday I did, and today, I thought I'd share the videos.  I'm guessing they will mostly be for my own enjoyment, as it was a 40 minute walk and probably pretty boring... haha.   I did shorten them up a bit for online viewing.  The first is sped up 400% and set to music (the first mp3 I had that was 8 minutes long).  I cannot guarantee that watching it will not cause seizures ;)   The second, I used 'magic movie' to randomly select a few clips and put it together.  Not as fun as the first, but probably easier to watch. So, anyways, here you go.  Enjoy! (or not)
