Gooby Eyes

Gibson has a little secret..  He has gooby eyes...
DSC_2533

That's what me and Ben call it.. I guess goopy eyes would work too.  Whatever they're called.. they run all the time and I'm constantly wiping them for him.  And (confession) I've been photoshopping the goopiness out of his photos for the past 6 months.  I know, I'm terrible.... :)

At first, I thought it was allergies, or that his tear ducts were cloggged.. but now I think he just has sensitive eyes.  It happens mostly after we get back from a walk and has been happening since the winter (when things weren't blooming).. so I don't know.  It's not that big of a deal, but it's annoying.

Does anyone else's dog have this problem?  What do you do to help it?  I was putting warm compresses on his face, but it didn't seem to help.  I know it's not his food.. Maybe he just needs a pair of doggles :)

In pregnancy news, I took my very first bump picture, which I may regret posting here.. haha... but here it goes anyway:

I'm 16weeks, 3 days now and am doing great!  Morning sickness is pretty much a thing of the past, so yay!  Only a month til we find out the gender!!!

Have a great weekend!

Do you think it could be allergies? I know every year around this time Gryff has one eye that gets boogies and it gets all red. We found he has allergies and it only happens for about three weeks when the weather warms up. He gets drops three times a day in each eye.

I got doggles from the Xmas exchange and they are awesome! It helps when we're in the car so he doesn't get goop in his eye when he sticks his face out the window :D

I hope Gibson is OK! And you look freaking adorable with your bump :)

My old cat had this, and the vet said he actually had chlamydia in his eye from his infected mother. But his eye did this ALL the time, so I highly doubt that's the case with Gibbers. Give him a hug from me and Dex.

Can't WAIT to find out if the baby is a boy or girl!

@Aparna E.

I don't know, Aparna, since it has been happening since November so it's not seasonal. When he gets allergies in August (every year) his face gets all puffy and he rubs all the black around his eyes off.. What drops do you use for Gryff's eyes?

Sadie has this, too. Always thought it was allergies, but who knows. It is rather gross though ha.

Awww cute baby bump! :)

Finding out gender is FUN! My hubby was so glad to be having a little girl. (Funny, right) He said he knew what HE was like as a little boy and didn't want all that trouble, lol. Crazy, boy.

Maybe there's something in his eye? My corgi likes to rub his head on the carpet and as a result gets carpet fibers and sometimes his own hair in his eyes. If its really bad it becomes stuck on his eyeball and it can produce mucus and irritation. Sorry its gross.

I've taken to checking his eye every day or so to remove it with a tissue.

Hope you figure out what's causing it!

Henry gets it too. We put a warm compress on him to clean it off, but it always comes back. A lot of times he'll have it after sleeping for a while.

Hey! I reseached some info and this might help: http://www.cesarsway.com/askthevet/dogwellness/Tear-staining

Hope Gibber gets better! :)

Cody only gets eye goobies after he's been asleep. He's never had his eyes run like poor Gibson. Or at least I never notice since he has a dark muzzle.

I hope it's nothing serious, maybe just puppy allergies!!

Squeal on the baby bump! We didn't find out with our first baby and loved not knowing. We found out with the second baby and it was fun knowing too! lol I just wouldn't tell people your names until you've written it down after the baby is born!

My poor Jazz has the running eye now. She got it when she came back from staying at a different kennel while we were on vacation. She also came home with fleas! That is what I thought was causing her eye to run. That and the combination that those people smoked.... Sigh.... I am going to have the vet look at it when I take her in to get her yearly shots. I thought it would go away but it didn't. I hate that for her. I don't know how to photo shop it out of her pictures either

love your picture, Kelly!! it is soooo exciting to welcome a new life!! you are looking great! I follow a blog with a lady who is due with triplets (she's 23 weeks along.......you should see her pictures, looking great though she is!!)

Koda a few times a year, but not lately will get those gooby eyes, I was convinced they were allergies and whenever I thought of taking him to the vet, then his eyes would get better. He does have "matter" under his eyes most mornings, but when they were really gooby it was always wet under his eyes.

and you are right, Goldfish are a great treat for them! One of Koda's favorites!!

have a good weekend!

You might want to give him a benedryl - our vet prescribes it for Lola's allergies. Check first.

Smoochies to Gibson!

Somehow I missed the announcement about your baby on the way. Congratulations! Yes, Pumpkin and Darby have goopy eyes sometimes and I, too, edit their photos sometimes.
