Fall clothes + giveaway!

I lied.  There is one more season in Gibson's wardrobe:

Fall!!!

I decided that I love fall too much not to get him a fall themed collar.  So I got him one.  And it's cute.

See?
DSC_1162

(I finally learned how to get a good collar photo.. Hold a delicious morsel above his head.  Perhaps causing a river of drool .)

And if receiving a super cute collar wasn't exciting enough, Pam from Big Doggy Bling (where all of Gibson's collars are from) also sent a little surprise for me!  A purple poka-dotted martingale collar!

DSC_1186

Isn't it the cutest??  Of course, Gibson would get beat up if he ever wore it in public, so that is where you come in!  I will be giving this away!  And, I know, "it's super girlie and it's not fair because I have a boy dog, boo!"  No worries!  If the winner owns a male dog, and does not want the purple collar they can choose this totally manly collar instead (or you can negotiate with me some other collar from their collection):

And to make things more complicated, if there is a 'male dog' winner, there will also be a 'female dog' winner, since I have the purple collar in my possession! But if the first winner is a 'female dog', there will be no second winner.  Make sense? :)

Both collars are Martingale style and slip over the head.  The purple collar is adjustable for a 12"-16" neck (the size Gibson wears) so make sure it will fit your pup! I think that it should fit most corgis, but check to be sure!

TO ENTER

1. Leave a comment here stating either "GIRLIE" or "MANLY" indicating which collar you would like.
2. For a second entry, post a link to this giveaway on your blog or twitter and come back and post a link to where you did.

That's it!

Drawing will be held October 4th, so get those entries in! :)

If my giveaway doesn't excite you, Julie from Corgi Tails is also having a giveaway at her cooking blog, Bananas for Bourbon!  Click here to enter her giveaway for a $35 Gift Certificate to CSN Stores (You can get anything here! Including pet supplies!!)!

Celebrity Look-a-likes!

Gibson won another photo contest!  This time, it was from Wellness!  They held a 'celebrity look-a-like' contest on their facebook page and at first I wasn't quite sure who to choose... that is until I remembered who we ALWAYS say Gibson looks like when he is crazy hyper:  The Joker!

Spitting image, no? :)

Anyways, we are super stoked!  Gibson and I high-fived and I gave him about a billion treats ;)  For winning, we're getting a $50 Wellness prize package!! So excited!!! :)

Gibson's Tricks: Blooper Reel

This video is from June.  I haven't posted it yet, because I am pretty sure I sound like a complete lunatic. I also had to edit it numerous times because I kept swearing in it :)  It is a video of a typical weekend for Gibson and I when Ben is out of town on business.  I have no one else to talk to, so I talk to my dog.   It's awesome.   :)    But anyways,  I think it's time to share, so here it goes.. Hope you don't think less of me ;)

IN OTHER NEWS...

The "18 Month" Calendar Now Available!
But, it's not actually 18 months... I decided to make it more cost effective and make it 12 months and mini sized (7"x 5"pages).  I'm sure you are saying, "but, there were 18 other finalists!"  True, but 6 of those made the "top 12", so I thought it'd be more fair to feature the other 12 that were not, if that makes sense!  And yes, Gibson is in there, because there was 1 duplicate corgi, and I thought it'd be weird if there was 1 corgi featured more than once... Make sense?? :)  Anyways, here it is!  Mr. Bender is our cover boy! :)

Making Travel Easier

Apparently my funk is over.  An awesome coupon  may have had something to do with that, but more on that later....

Gibson and I travel a lot.  My parents/best friends live an hour and a half away, so that means a weekend trip about once a month or so.  I've mentioned Gibson's car troubles in the past, but he is actually getting a LITTLE better.  Since I switched him to the crate he seems way more content (although he still gets really nervous when I am packing the car).  Speaking of packing.. I have Gibson's travel bag packing down to a science.  Food? Check. Leashes? Check.  Treats? Check. Poop Bags? Check. Anything that makes it easier to travel gets a thumbs up in my book, which is why I purchased this:

DSC_0890

The Weekender Feedbag from Planet Dog!  Love it!  I bought it because I felt so bad about using plastic bags to transport Gibson's food everywhere.. I love anything that gets rid of the need for plastic bags.  This has worked out great so far!

DSC_0887

I love the warning, "Caution! Packing this bag may cause a frenzy."  It's true.  Look at Gibson's poor allergy face while I was packing this for him:

Allergy Face

And there were lots of cries and grumbles of course.

DSC_0901

It is a TAD big.  It  holds 30 cups of food! I usually only take about 3 or 4 cups with me for a weekend..

DSC_0899

Hello down there, food!   It is nice though that if I needed to pack 30 cups of food (vacationing for a month?) I could :)

DSC_0897

After you throw your food in, it velcros up nice and tight...

DSC_0895

And then folds up and buckles for extra security!

And since Planet Dog is awesome, they donate 2% of the purchase of these bags to the Planet Dog Foundation, which supports therapy and service dogs!  Everyone wins! haha :)

You might have guessed that this item has been added to my OpenSky Shop!

Funk

Sorry guys.  I am in a total blogging funk right now.  Just thinking about writing makes my head hurt.  Once this calendar is done and up for sale I think I'll be better!  Soon, I swear! :)

For now, here are some photos of the Gib in front of some lovely bushes that grew pretty blue flowers for fall!

Walk This Way!

Flashback!

Now that I got that out of the way...

DSCF2281

Gibson and I go on lots of walks together.  I love it.  It's relaxing and fun and gets us both outdoors and moving.  Problem is, there's only so many routes you can take every day and it can start to get kind of stale.  I usually take him on 3-4 different routes a day, but still.. every day those same walks get old.

The solution?   Let Gibson walk his way!

It is super fun and quite unpredictable!  It all started a few weeks ago when I decided to train for a 5k.  The days off from running I am supposed to walk 30-60 minutes a day (which I already do, so I thought I'd go longer).  Gibson and I were walking like normal one morning when we came to an intersection.  He seemed to not want to go the direction that we were headed, so I asked him, "Which way do you want to go?!"  He knew exactly what I was asking.   His eyes lit up, his smile BEAMED and he made a right turn instead of going straight.  I decided just to go with it.   I stayed back and let him do the leading.   If we came to an intersection, I'd ask him which way and he'd smile and go the way he wanted.  It was so much fun and we walked forever!

I eventually had to steer him in the direction of our house because he kept wanting to go in loops around his favorite 'kitty spot', but overall it was a great success.  We now will do this every other day and he keeps surprising me where he will take me!  One of his new favorite spots is the pub down the street where he's swept up lots of popcorn and french fries off of their patio.. hah

So, if you are getting bored w/your normal everyday walks.. Try the 'Walk This Way' method.  It's way, way fun!  Disclaimer:  Letting your dog do this too often may cause him/her to think they can walk like this all time time, so try to make it a special treat!

P.S. The calendars are coming along.. Cafepress is actually still selling 2010 calendars, so it may still be a few weeks til they switch over to 2011. Thanks for being patient w/me!

Corgis (with blogs) 2011 Calendar WINNERS!

The time has come to announce the winners of the calendar!  Thank you EVERYONE for your submissions and for all of your votes!! I could not believe the amount of votes that I've been tallying up over the weekend (the last few trickling in late last night).  Remind me next year to find a more efficient way of tallying than writing hash marks on a piece of paper ;)

I was quite impressed by your selections!  I thought I may have to mix things up to get all the seasons  in and what-not, but the winners below are the actual top vote getters (Besides a few who had more than one photo in the top.  I tried to make it fair and made sure there were 12 different dogs)!

So, without further ado...   I'd like to introduce your Corgis (with blogs) 2011 Calendar!
