New Dog Walking/Collar Accessories! :)

What's more fun than new accessories?  Even if they are for your dog ;)

First up, I received this awesome Planet Dog Natural Hemp Leash with a Fleece Lined Handle!

I absolutely love it!  It's environmentally friendly (gotta love Planet Dog!), heavy duty (big and thick!), durable (washable!) and super cute (Isn't the fleece lined handle adorable? It's comfy too!).   I actually feel more in control of Gibson using this than I did with my leather leash that I've used for the past 2 years.   The leather leash would actually stretch with Gibson if he pulled on it, this one won't budge!  If I move one way he is coming with me :)

I just added this to my OpenSky shop if you are interested!

Next up, I bought this neat-o dog tag, that actually attaches directly to Gibson's collar!

You may remember that I had "collar issues" with Gibson, which mainly stemmed from the fact that he hated the tags dangling off of it (and we hated the noise they made!).   Since then, we fell in love with martinagle collars  AND also took his tags off of his collars and attached them to his leash..   Which worked fine..  Until I read this blog post from Tonya at The Bee Charmer.  Wow did that open my eyes! You just never know what could happen if your dog got loose!  I highly recommend these tags if you are in the same situation that i was in.  Not only are they helpful, they are beautiful!   It definitely dresses up Gibson's collar!  Plus, it stays in place on the back of Gibson's neck (or wherever you attach it).  Sooo happy I found this!

Available at Boomerang Tags :)

What kind of leash do you use?  Does your dog wear dog tags on his/her collar?

Burke has a lovely collar with his name and my cell phone number embroidered on it, and you bet your corgi butt he doesn't leave the house without it on. We use a retractable leash right now, but he does have a red cloth leash. All his accesories are red actually, it's his daddy's favorite color.

I love that leash with the fleece. Depending on the day we use a retracable one or her brown nylon leash. I read the story on the Bee Charmer, and it is always scary when they get out. Whiskey wears her tags very well, and our cats have the collars that have their name and # embrioded on it. I do want to get one for Whiskey too. But she never leaves the house without jingling from her tags. I found 3 dogs wandering my neighborhood all has tags and # and they got home safely.
Always a good reminder though

That's the same tag I have for Sadie! I love it. When I first put on a regular hanging tag, she literally refused to walk because of the sound. I tried silencers, etc., but then found this tag, and LOVE IT. It has fit on every collar I've gotten her; although sometimes it's a little difficult to get on some of the thicker ones. I also ordered her a collar from LL Bean, which has her name and my phone number embroidered on the collar. Another good option! But I like to change her collars too often :) And it seems you're the same!

I use a nylon leash with a harness for Pippin. His tags are on his collar, which doesn't bother him, and on the back of the tag, our vet.'s phone number too...I like THAT tag A LOT..For Henry, my seizure boy, the tag states epilepsy, and vet's number..e

That is AWESOME!!! I would get them for the Beans but if they aren't jingling I trip over them!!!

I like the look of that leash. My favorite leash for Stanley is an AKC brand one from Petco that's faux leather. It's pretty comfy but I think the fleece would be a nice touch for a leash. Stanley has several collars and he wears his tags pretty well. But we take his collar off when he's inside and I do worry about if he ever got out for some reason and didn't have his collar on. Definitely a scary thought!

I LOVE PLANET DOG! They have the best things! The eggplant collar and leash from PD is our next set once her current collar and leash are done for.

Ooooo fleecy leashy joy...Amy loooooooves her Planet Dog ball ever since mommy figured out that cookies could fit inside of it and I think we're Planet Dog people from now on. We visited them in Portland and they were very friendly and helpful. The employees recommended the wobbly treat dispenser we ended up getting and Amy loooooooooooves it. I may need fleecy leashy handle for winter, unless it would get clogged with snow and ice and freeze to my hand??

Amy's collar is from UpCountry Inc in Rhode Island and it is cute black with white polky dots and pink trim. She goes naked in the house tho because she is not used to being collared all the time. But if she sets one paw out the door or we are at a friend's house, collar and tags are de rigeur. She doesn't mind the sound at all and often bangs her tags along the kitchen floor seemingly for fun. If we were planning to collar her 24/7, we'd definitely prefer those Boomerang tags though!

Hi Kelly & Gibson!

Oh!!!! that collar tag thing is so neat. I'm always on the hunt for new collars.. leashes... like he doesnt have enough! But I am starting to buy the "large" size collars because, well the fur on corgis usually cover up anything smaller (its amazing you can actually see th large collar on him!! haha), and then... i like that the larger collars well, they just seem to do the work better! and with a fleece lined leash... that would be perfect !

oh and i love the alligator collar you have on him :)very cute!

oh and i forgot to answer Your question. Hahah. Bailey and I use a normal buckle collar, and a nice 6ft long regular nylon leash.. or retractable (depends on where we are ggoing), and his collar currently just has regular tags, and he doesn’t mind it at all. I did find a nifty gadget at petco to take care of me having to switch his tags back and forth between collars. Im thinking of including one of those in my paw it fwd package because…. When I found it I thought it was the best invention since sliced bread!
