Car Shakes (somewhat) Solved

Thank you everyone for your advice w/my "Car Shakes" issue. We've only been in the car once since then, and this was my solution:

New Car Seat!

A Booster Seat! (Thanks for the recommendation, Lesley!)

It worked pretty well for the first time out (we just went to Petco). He didn't make a peep the whole time or try to climb out (we still need to get a harness for it). He did have the goofy face that you see in the photo the whole time and was still shaking a bit (according to my husband). I think it may work better when it is just me and Gibson in the car and I can attach the seat to the passenger seat next to me (especially since for it to work in the back meant that I had to adjust my seat so that it was a perfect 90 degree angle! I'm used to 45 degrees lol).

The real test will be the next time we go for an hour and a half drive to my parents. I'll let you all know how he does :)

Poor Gibson! You can see his eyes bulging a little bit in the photo.

Thumbs up! It's a start. Maybe he wants to see/know what's going on and that's why he shakes? Sometime it's just a patience thingy....w/ my friends dog it's the motion and the noise of the freeways...not around town...so we got a very homeopathic med at Petco (the brown one w/ a golden on it, forget the name off hand) to calm her, less motion sensitive, etc.....works pretty good! :-D Have to do a lil before we actually go so we can make sure it's fully kicked in....

Oh that's good! He does still look terrified haha, but at least he looks a little more comfortable. Sadie seems to enjoy when I bring her bed into the car, so it's the same kind of idea. This is a little safer though. I need to look into getting her a harness. Not sure how she will deal with that tho! Good luck with the long drive. Let us know how it goes!

Herman loves his seat. Of course I usually drive past our local Coffee Hut and they always give him a treat.(:

If you don't mind, can you tell me where did you find it? What size? I would love to try the same for Nala. Thanks so much. : )

Duh!! I found the info while rereading and following the link. Thanks again. I will buy one, now. I so enjoy driving around, but with Nala whining and moving constantly, it has become a test of patience. I will let you know also how it went. Thanks, Diana & Nala.

Is there a way to harness him in? Riding in the front seat is dangerous for a dog (just like a small child) and if you wear a seat belt, so should they! I really like the Champion Canine Seat Belt from here:

I think Hannah is talking about Bach Flower Rescue Remedy which we have also had great success with. Sully has trouble on rumble strips that they use during road construction so on long trips where there is bound to be some he gets his drops every few hours.

Hey I have that seat too! Me and my little brother ride in it whenever we go bye-bye. Being able to see out the window is pawesome!

What a great idea! Where did you get the car seat? Mum wants one for me and Cooper.

I may have to look into one of these. In the car Bender does nothing but shake, pant, and lose large amounts of hair. The only way he'll even calm down a little is if he can sit in my lap.

LOL! Poor Gibson! I call that face Theo's googley eyes, yoda ears face. Doesn't it just melt your heart? I'm glad he's responding to the carrier thingy. Good luck with getting those ears at full height!
