I'm So *teeth chattering* Cold.

hehehe, sorry I had to.

It has really felt like that the past two days. Yesterday, it was -1 all day. But Oh! This morning it was all the way up to 5 degrees. Warm!

Poor Gibson has had about 1/16 the amount of walks he normally does. Most of them involved him going out, peeing, and then rolling over onto his back because his feet were so cold. Poor guy. Last night, we made it all the way down to the end of the block so he could poop, but then he immediately rolled over for me to pick him up :(

I've thought of getting him little puppy boots, but I can't imagine him agreeing to walk in them normally. He is not a fan of clothes. Or things touching his feet. I have been throwing his winter coat on him so keep him a little warmer, but he just looks at me like this...

Clothes just aren't made for corgis! The people that make them, must be like, "Um, normal dogs do not have such short legs and big chests. Sorry!"

Well, hopefully we do not have that many freezing days this winter.. It is supposed to be "mild" according to the farmer's almanac! We'll see.....

(P.S. If any of you corgi owners in colder areas do use booties on your dog, which ones do you use and does your corgi tolerate them??)

Cute picture of Gibson!!! My girls do not wear any type of bootie - they would loose them in their zoomies around the yard! They don't just walk through life - they attack it with GUSTO!!! Have a great day, Kelly!

What a cute little guy you have! How silly that he rolls on his back because his little paws are cold! I tried to take my Charlie on a walk here in cold Colorado, and he ran pretty much the whole way! He hates to run...so maybe I should get him some little booties....like that would last :)

As you know, Sadie wears clothes sometimes haha. I am evil, I know. But really, the main things she wears are her raincoat and winter coat. At least they are practical...

As for her paws...Sadie's get really cold in the winter, too. Mainly when it is snowing...But she will just sit down, hold up her front paws and shiver. It's so sad. I found this great stuff that works and that doesn't bother Sadie. It's called Musher's Secret. It's a natural wax that actual sledding dogs use. You can find it online. I believe I bought mine on Amazon.

It really works! I hope Gibson's paws are feeling better soon. It's WAY colder there than it is here, so I feel for you. Stay warm!!

Aw! Look at that face! Poor Gibson! That sounds really adorable though. hehe. I got Theo some booties when we went up to the snow over Christmas last year. They wouldn't stay on him, he hated them, we ended up not using them. It wasn't -1 though! Brrrrrr!

poor Gibson! he does look miserable! Koda never minded the snow/cold when we lived in Montana (but try to send him out here in the rain, you would think I was torturing him). I used to have to watch to be careful he didn't stay out too long in the cold when son was playing in snow because he loved being out there and I was afraid he would freeze.

brrr though!! I'd be miserable in those temps

hoping this is the only cold temps like this you get this season

betty

Haha, Gibsons' look reminds me so much of this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xk-J4aHH9Sk

That is some pretty extreme weather you're having! 57 degrees here in San Diego, and I think it's freezing! I haven't bought booties for Ein/Brian because I doubt that they will stay on. I've been wanting to try Musher's Secret, though.

I have heard that Pawz Dog boots are pretty good. I think there was a discussion on mycorgi.com about it. I was tempted to buy them for Cosmo's paw licking problem, but some tea tree oil spray solved most of it. They are sold through Amazon.com and also at pawzdogboots.com you can find more info. Good luck Gibson! Hope mom find a happy solution. Although you find one already (rolling over to be carried). Too cute!!

I've never gotten my girls booties, because I doubt they would keep them on. They LOVE the snow and enjoy rolling in it. But when it is bitter cold as it is here now, I notice that they often stand on three legs and alternate holding one foot up to get warm. They are so smart to figure that out! We just bought the corgi blog calendar and love it. We'd also like to be considered for another year. http:/corgitales.blogspot.com

Just want to drop by to say hi ;) I haven't been by your blog for quite a while, and read like 30 posts at one sitting! All I can say is glad the fleas are gone, drains are unclogged, and Gibson can peer over the window again ;) Oh, and i still need to buy a calendar, it's been on my to-do list forever...

We haven't been that cold yet! I hate the cold, I'm shivering when it's only 30 degrees outside and it's quite sad.

Gibson is so cute in that pic! Do you find him obstinate? Freya is so obstinate and woofs at me when I'm not doing something she wants or nips me.

As for the boots, this might be an option http://soggypaws.com/store/apparel_pawzboots.html It's like a latex glove but they still can feel the ground. Maybe it will be less traumatizing to Gibson? I think you can find it on amazon.

I use boots on one of my corgis and he doesn't mind them... At first, he thought they were a little odd, but he quickly got used to them. I don't know the brand name. I also use the Musher's Secret wax on both of them and it works really well. I'd recommend that over the boots, bc it's easier to put on!
